Tour Description

Tipón

Tipon

The 12 terraces constist of beautiful rooms and gardens that were built with megalithic blocks of stone which were part of the royal house of Yahuar Huaca. Stunning fountains and mysterious underground water channels can still be seen today as part of this incredible hydraulic engineering.

Pikillaqta

Pikillacta

A significant city of Wari Culture, which consists of over 700 buildings, including palaces, warehouses and houses. The city has a perfectly harmonious and geometric design, divided into blocks and straight streets. Some of the buildings were made 2 and even 3 stories high, walls made with mud bonded stones of considerable thickness at the base and decreasing width upwards. Possibly the home of about 10,000 people in its prime, this is truly an absolute wonder to see.

Andahuaylillas, “the Sistine Chapel of America.”

Capilla Sixtina de america Latina en Andahuaylillas

The colonial church of Andahuaylillas, considered the ” Sixteenth Chapel of America” because of the incredible quality of art work that are on display within, such as: mural paintings, canvases, altarpieces, etc. This church was built over an important Inka construction, possibly a “Waka” or sacred point because its base was made with carved Andesites, belonging to religious Quechua architecture.
